VPA sets record in cargo handling on single day
Visakhapatnam Port Authority (VPA) handled the highest volume of cargo on a single day on Monday.

Visakhapatnam: Visakhapatnam Port Authority (VPA) handled the highest volume of cargo on a single day on Monday.
VPA which was earlier known as Visakhapatnam Port Trust handled 3,73,544 tonne combinedly at Inner Harbour and Outer Harbour including Single Buoy Mooring (SPM) through vessels that had worked at the major port.
This was the highest tonnage handled in VPA since its inception in 1933, duly surpassing the previous best of 3,70,029 tonne recorded through 21 vessels in December, 2021. Initially, Visakhapatnam Port handled 3,47,722 tonne through 19 Vessels December 2, 2019.
VPA Chairman K Rama Mohana Rao appreciated the Traffic Department for the achievement.
He also advised the Traffic Department to work hard for the continuous growth of the port ranked fourth among all major ports after Deendayal (Kandla), Paradeep and JNPT.
At a meeting on Tuesday, VPA Chairman specially appreciated the Traffic Manager for his efforts towards record cargo handling in one day. Durgesh Kumar Dubey, Deputy Chairman and T. Venugopal, Secretary were present.
